Restaurant Belga Queen Ghent

Under Antoine Pinto’s inspiring direction the imposing 13th century Korenstapelhuis (Grain Storehouse) has undergone a major transition. From this landmark building in pure Romanic style he has created a multifaceted meeting place that accommodates a restaurant, a beer bar and a club.

His almost archaeological approach does justice to all of the original elements and has allowed for the development of several atmospheres confined within one space. High bistro tables alternate with more intimate dining corners. The armchairs are large and deep, the remnants of the old port of Ghent’s glorious past skilfully staged.

A seat at one of the two impressive communal tables on the second floor offers a great view into the open kitchen with its abundance of stainless steel and chrome.

Heading towards the back wall on the same level, discreetly hidden behind a rich drape, one discerns the entrance to the restrooms. While the water wall is the exclusive domain of the men, all visitors can experience the famous doors that become opaque on locking.

Antoine Pinto’s great love for the city of Ghent has inspired him to create new objects for his latest project here. And as always, when it comes to furniture design, he has let his creative spirit wander freely and has even decided to bring several of his sophisticated designs into production, including the “Twist®” chair that surely swings in every sense.
